Best CMS for SEO for Website AND Blog - all in one
Hello everyone,
I currently run 2 CMS's and want to find a way to fuse the functionality into a single CMS that will support both my regular company website and a blog. Does any one have any thoughts on this? Am I correct in my thinking? I'm tired of having effectively 2 different sites, separate designs, separate technologies, imperfect sitemaps, different plugins/addons for optimization, different URL/Permalink structures, etc. It is a huge headache and I want something better... The reason for this is that I want to improve: Single layout/design site & blog wide Single consistent navigation across both website and blog Ability to have cross list content from blog and website Single set of SEO Single site wide URL structure or permalink structure Single sitemap Lessen my vulnerability exposure (1 CMS vs. 2) Etc. etc.. So what are your thoughts? What CMS should I standardize on and why is it best for both my website AND my blog in terms of all around content management and SEO/SEM? Currently under evaluation I am looking at Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla... Any thoughts? |

Whatever open source you select, make sure you have good security and backup for your host.
If the site pages are less then you can go for wordpress, if you are planning for more modules user interation and so you can go for drupal, just thinking of posting mass content then option goes to joomla. Best, Last edited by jag : 03-24-2010 at 02:29 AM. |

Wordpress is much easier to use than other CMS systems. Drupal is extremely powerful, but only if you know what you are doing. Joomla is great, but the blog fucntion isn't as easy to use as that of WordPress.
WordPress has an easy upgrade feature which can be a big help. Whenever there is newer version, you click a link and upgrade your installation automatically. No messing around with the code. If SEO and blogging is important to you, I would definitely go with WordPress.

devnull - hope you are getting closer to an answer but I have a question - is the blog a separate domain? Could it just be part of the main website?
