Weird Ad Disapproval Process

I am working with a new campaign and had some serious problems with how Google approves and disapproves the ads. One would almost think they are slowing down the competitiveness of the space.

I added 5 ads to an ad group - one with the singular domain name in display the 4 others the plural - the company has both.

So they approve the one ad and disapprove the rest - reason given you cannot have different display urls in the same ad group

Given they only show one at a time I think this is silly and just adds more work to the PPC manager.

Anyone else have a problem with this? It took me a couple of days to correct as I thought it was for using words like best and top in the copy and stupid me did not look at the reason, just changed the ad

how long did that approval take. I just started a new campaign for a client, and got the "Pending approval" bit...
I don't think I've ever waited more than an hour before.... any idea how long this can take or have insight on getting hold of a adwords rep?
I created the ad last sunday, and it didnt get the flag until I actually ENABLED the campaign....
The client's all antsy about getting started since they've been waiting all week for some technical issues of their own, any fix or ideas for getting this looked at or how long does G usually take for a manual review?

it should run inside Google according to the info given here:
Your ad is eligible to run on Google search pages. However, we haven't yet verified that your ad follows all of our advertising policies. Until your ad is reviewed and approved, it won't be eligible to run on our search partners or on Content Network placements. We appreciate your patience while your ads are in review.

yeah, had seen that in the console. their ask for help was a form though...
seems like until you're spending money they don't jump to help you too much in the beginning.
since it's new account and all, it's much slower than I'm used to dealing with...
