Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
I'm normally not down with the SEO is dead crowd ;-), but the recent talk (started by Aaron Wall who normally doesn't spread too much FUD) about Google basically acting as an affiliate in their own SERPs (for product searches, etc.) and pushing down the organic listings below the fold, thus making SEO less valuable in Google really made me think about this.
Do you guys think this is a big concern? Will a future part of SEO involve identifying/finding SERPs in which Google can't pull this off and has to serve mostly organic listings (b/c of risking to pollute their results if they go overboad with paid ads) and targeting those keywords / niches? Will Google either simply not be able to do this too much b/c of decreasing their SERPs' quality if they do it? and/or will they lose market share to bing (or whatever other search engine) by doing this - thus growing other opportunities for SEOs (as in other search engines)? |

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
you need to be aware of what is happening and work on the new angles - SEO is optimization = it changes and how you get there - be it Maps etc - is what is important not the old school organics

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
Yeah, I think I agree and that's basically what I meant.
Understanding how the new algo works and how to get to the top of it...for example targeting the long-tail, maybe targeting promising informational queries to lure users in, etc. in order to avoid SERPs where G can serve too many paid-for-ads instead of organic ones. However Aaron wall's theory seems to be that the same thing is happening e.g. for product searches (not only for local searches), where Google will only show products that they're making money from. In other words that the importance of PPC will grow and the importance of SEO decline in Google's SERPs, as they're starting to really monetize their "website", now. Okay, Im not sure I fully understand it, and have to read it again, I guess ;-). |

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
PPC might grow even better but there needs to be a balance in-between PPC and SEO or search engine will become a paid search + directory
then this will lead SEO's to go for another search engine and things will start from square one lol ![]() SEO's not only promote sites they indirectly promote search engine by their work, which most of them don't think about. Best, |

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
you mean (whitehat) SEOs indirectly promote search engines by improving the quality of their results, by making sure good content gets to the top?
And one day if g turned into some kind of paid directory , the organic results of another SEO would be better than those of G, thus users would switch? If that's what you meant, I must say I can't say I'm completely convinced (unfortunately)..simply b/c of the good will google has, but it's pretty interesting..quite honestly I never thought about the fact that SEOs are indirectly promoting SEs. Did I get your point or did you mean something completely different?LOL ![]() PS: then again that only works as long there are more whitehat SEOs than SE spammers (wasnt gonna say blackhat SEOs, b/c I think "SE spammers" (who pollute the results) are just a subset of blackhat SEOs) |

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
SEO Optimization is one of the best ways to cut your cost during SEO promotion.
Ignoring SEO while promoting website on search engines is more like performing hara-kiri on your own website. |

Re: Does organic SEO have a future in Google?
I think you didn't really get my point. I was referring to some expected changes in google's algorithm and how they will affect the ROI on SEO campaigns.
Your comment sounds like you misunderstood my original post as "Do I need to do SEO on my website or not?" - which it wasnt meant to be, I hate those kind ofposts ![]() |
