Alexa rating

For all our sites the alexa rating has not moved up or down in 4 weeks

usually i can check it daily and see movement

any reason why

I agree Birdie,

Alexa with all the other silly rating and or BI sites have completely skewed data.

One of our sites on Alexa shows we have had over 1.2 million visitors every month.... Saweet. If it were only true. Hmmm then again, Yahoo did optimize our account....?

Looking at Alexa is like looking at your horoscope, mildly interesting, but far from reality.

Slueng, just noticed you are new to the forum. Welcome.
Don't use sites like Alexa to evaluate traffic to your website.
You can use them from time to time to see if they present a bit of information not found elsewhere to round out some rough edges. But to get a true picture of your websites traffic and conversions us a true analytics package, such as the popular Google Analytics (formerly Urchin). Or get your own with Webtrends (high end). There are many others, but in short the data needs to be taken directly from traffic on your website, not extrapolated from outside sources.

Sites like Alexa use data created by tool bars that are installed on some internet browsers. I think they may also try to supplement that data somehow.
In any case the data is never very solid.

i am not concerned with alexa rating.

dont really care but the people i answer to are.

i understand that getting analytics system is more accurate but Iwas wondering why no change in alexa for over amonth for our sites or competitions sites

you need to explain to them how it can be gamed and is not a good indicator... install an alexa tool bar and you should see a jump given you will be loading the site a lot

The Alexa toolbar is not a fair representation. If you want to impress your bosses, just view the pages a lot in the day, and you see how easily this can be manipulated.

On the same topic but slightly different. How about Google?. My client has run three campaigns. We all started optimization at the same time. All have similar links (numbers not sure about quality).

I have pr 0, they have pr 3, this is in a month. What am I doing wrong?, wrong link building strategy?, maybe my link building started later than the last time google update pr?. My client (who could actually earn me a lot of money) is now questioning if he picked the right man for the job. Please help!

There may be so many causes behind pr updation. Don't worry about this.
Search engine result page ranking is the main facter not the google pr.
