Personally I think it keeps the forum very focussed on professional-level news, tips & techniques rather than just created a 'link bitch' forum as someone once put it.

I don't see signature links importance. Where you don't get signature link option you will find meaningful conversions, otherwise you will find spammers for link building only.

Signature can encourage member bring contents but also some member would bring spam contents.

This was a topic since day 1 on these forums. Kind of funny too because Danny was all for leaving your link mark if you contribute something of value. But he sided with SEW and new that it would also be sorely abused and give moderators a lot of trouble. So no sigs allowed

I like think it was a good move. Nothing worse than sig spam taking up like 75% of a forum topic lol.

That is correct, sigs aren't allowed and we do our best to remove and ban users who post links to promote their services...

another forum i have seen without a sig is the webmasterworld .
here i see less noise and genuine people......thats what matters for professioals ...that was a very impressive move from day one.
