Anyone Notice Google changes on 01/25/08?
Just wondering if anyone noticed Google changes on 01/25/08?
For some strange reason, the same search terms I've been in top 10 with for years are gone. Except for a few search phrases I have been otherwise unable to locate site as relevant for any of the number of syntax searches it normally shows up for. ALl I do is search friendly and Google has loved the site, for six years. Now, as on 1/28 it's all but vanished. PR is still the same 4 Sitemaps reports no errors, etc and shows it was indexed recently but... It's gone. I wrote to Google, to notofy them and see if somebodypuched the wrong button. |

I suggest to wait....Google is a complex machine and is not always working the way G wants it to work. This stuff happens. If your site etc. is clean of problems it will come back. Knee-jerk reactions could mess up it's recovery so if your sure the site is clean, just sit tight.

Re: Anyone Notice Google changes on 01/25/08?
It's been 2 full days and site http://freedjamerica.com has still not come back into usual positions at Google. It seems to be primarily the .index page which dropped drastically. My sitemaps shows the site was last indexed on January 24th successfully with no errors, warnings, etc. I am baffled. What the heck happened? Why after years of consistency did my site drop out of site? Any ideas? Anyone aware of or victim of any recent Google changes? The only changes I have made in recent months, include a migration to a new host in December and switching domain registrars, but the site has been crawled many times since then with no change to search relevancy.
Here's the weird thing I noticed too. For some of the search terms I showed up top 10 for, i.e.; wedding entertainment and karaoke dj and other on-topic phrases I enjoyed top 10's for at least several years, (even during Big Daddy), I noticed that several of my competitors sites have dropped too. I don't mean dropped 10, 20 or 30 spots either... It's like GONE! Nowsomething else strange, is that some of the other sites which did notshow up great for those generic terms are now rocking, (including a site I built for someone else). Please... Anyone out there got any ideas? All I have done thus far is redo my sitempa to see if G will respiser it, but it's still stuck on January 24th. I checked Matt Cutts Blog, but there's virtually no fresh info there, (did he drop out of site or?). I also contacted Google, but obviously getting any response from them is hit or miss. My Index page is back where it usually is! Not sure what happened with Google... Page reappeared as of this morning, 01/29/08, or roughly 4 days after it fell from the results. |

And never pull the trigger on any contemplated changes until you really, really, really (Did I say really?) know that something has changed in G's algo. These hiccups usually play themselves out over time; if not, if you watch the boards you should be able to suss out where some problems might lie, |
