Optimization tips

Hi there,

Im working on a client's site, optimizing it before sending it to directories/search engines. Now ive optimized keywords, descriptions, the title, told him he needs more body text etc,

but how deep should we go?
Should we optimize same site url's?
link's?
images for the alt abbreviation?,

Is this worth spending a lot of time on??

Re: Optimization tips

First, you should probably determine what kind of competition the site is up against. Is it in the competitive category of Computers/Electronics or something less demanding like Civil War history?

If its a high demand topic, I would take every measure possible to get every advantage possible.
Low demand, I'd feel free to submit it but still plan on tackling these issues so that the SE can read it in future crawls (but that's just me - I dont like leaving holes).

Re: Optimization tips

you can add a text content related to your site since they say content is king of the site... alt text and using hyper links to your keywords can be help.. and submitting your site in related category in directories is important because they may delete your site or declined it when it's not submitted in the related category..

Re: Optimization tips

Thanks guys,

Ive taken your words and gone for FULL optimization. Have I ever told you I hate php. Analyzed with google search parameters, same site link's, image alt, outbound url's, meta keywords, descriptions, title and body text.

I have about 5-6 pages to optimize thats the first page done, but now im concerned that the header.php file that needs editing, might also have to be changed. After all what is right for this page, might not be right for the other...php?, bah> humbug.

Each page needs to have a unique page title and meta description, so yes, the same include can't include the identical information for those for all pages, the script will have to be modified so they're unique.

Re: Optimization tips

If for now I am more interested in getting the front page in serp's, would I be okay, leaving the other pages only semi-optimized. Would this harm the front page chances of achieving serp's?

This will not hurt you. However, it wont help as much either. The SEs crawl the entire site, not individual pages. By having a fantastic homepage with little to back it up is like having a pretty face without any brains. The SEs are impressed in the beginning but their interest will dwindle as it delves further into the 'real you'.
