Marketing Tactics with Shopping Search Engines
If you're selling products online, you're missing a huge opportunity if you're not working with the increasingly popular shopping search engines like Shopping.com, Froogle, BizRate and others. In today's SearchDay article, Shopping Search Tactics, Shari Thurow reports on a recent Search Engine Strategies panel that covered how to optimize and submit feeds to the shopping search engines, and effectively manage a shopping search marketing campaign.
Your comments, tips, tactics and other feedback are welcome! Chris |

Here is an outstanding coverage from Meet the Shopping Search Engines - Live from SES San Jose
IMO, it's very important to be included in ALL Shopping Search Engines, not just one mentioned in that article. Other important shopping portals were not mentioned in this SES session and I believe they are important too. For example, Amazon.com. We currently have an alliance with Amazon through MexGrocer.com because they do a great job in SEO gaining top rankings. Keep in mind that you can most likely own only 1 or 2 listings in the top 10 SERPs for your branded domain, but not all 10 of them. Here is an example of what I mean with a "Pico Pica Hot Sauce" search query on Google. Notice how we are #1 and #2 with MexGrocer.com, but we also handle all the backend sales to #3 with Juanita's and #6 with Amazon.com. All fair and square with no funny tricks, just business relationships. Therefore making alliances with other important shopping players is key to a winning SEM strategy. |

50% commission to Amazon???
In today's Shopping Search Tactics when referring to Amazon Shari Thurow wrote:
"We pay 50% of gross order value, including shipping." It's a typo, isn't it? It would be nice to find the correct number out. Last edited by rustybrick : 09-29-2004 at 05:34 PM. Reason: removed sig in body of post at per forum guidelines, please see faq section |
