Microsoft adCenter Launches in the UK

Here is what Microsoft had to say:

"We’re pleased to announce that adCenter is launching on August 15th.

If you’ve been buying your Pay-Per-Click advertising through Yahoo! Search Marketing, you could lose up to 38% of your traffic*. As of this date, you will only be able to reach MSN’s quality audience through adCenter. So if you want to hold on to them, sign up to adCenter on 15th August

September also sees the launch of Windows Live Search, backed by a huge international marketing campaign.

Live Search will have rich viewing and organisational tools, extensive search categories (like image and local search), and innovative services to help searchers to better customise their results. As a result it will bring more high quality searchers into the MSN audience than ever before. So the sooner you get involved, the better results you’ll see."

Read this and you'll see why I think it's "hype"!

Pure hype and why I bolded will have. When?

Windows Live seemed to be an integral part of the M$ search strategy going forward. The "rich tools, extensive search categories" could be part of what this former employee was working on. IMO, Windows Live on the Vista platform has a huge potential for building a "contextual" Ad network, unlike anything the industry has seen to date, that discounting the demagraphics they already have integrated. The biggest advantage will be the absense of "partner publishers". In fact the machine owner could be the partner. Shopping rebates? Free Windows OS and office programs? No licenses! Think subscription to remove the ads!
