Ranking Software

Hi guys n gals

This is my first post so go easy on me :-)

I'm from Guernsey and have, over the past three years, been using the WPG (Web Position Gold) tool for all of my submissions and web ranking reports. Had a fair amout of success and never too old to learn something new.

I'm not a fan of WPG's page critic, bever too sure whether the submission really works but do like the report function on competiror trends and general search engine positioning; in the main use the latter.

Is there any one who has moved from WPG to other software tools and what are the pros and cons on your reccomendations

Thank you

N

Goood Day G,

Well first off, Web Position Gold in my opinion is about the worst piece of SEO software you could use! Firstly, Google explicity bans the use of that software and uses them as an example on their guidelines page;

http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmas...uidelines.html

Furthermore, any automated software is bad seo practice and also unliked by the search engines greatly.

Proper, ethical and efficient SEO requires alot more then a $200 tool - which cannot achieve longevity within the ranks on Google, Yahoo and MSN.

I personally don't use any off-the-shelf SEO tools as most are garbage and only risk upsetting the search engine spiders. Also, submitting your website to the engines is not neccessary as good link building, content development and all around SEO and Usability should lead to inclusion in the engines and ultimately ranking for your Keywords!

Cheers

Critter

Hi guernsey

I've been reviewing rank checking software for a few weeks now and I've found that Advanced Web Ranking is one of the better ones that I've come across.

Especially when it comes to non-US engines (that's the reason I've been looking at it) it has a really comprehensive list.

I looked at AgentWebrank and didn't like it much and like you I find WP to have too many useless features

And Advance was cheaper than the rest, so that's always good

And before you ask if I work for one of these companies the answer is no I don't. I'm just providing my opinion. Hope it helps.

I've been using Advanced Web Ranking for about a year now. I highly recommend it.

I think I'm learning that that Critter from reading the posts here; much to review and much to ask

DM and Rob
I will look at these two products. My clients are reasonably keen on the WPG report feature which cannily shows the up and down movements of their keywords and keyphrases. Does Advanced or Agent have any of these features; particularly useful would be the historical page rankings whne conducting monthly reports

My SEO activity has been mainly based around meta content, submission (manual and atomated) and reporting, so WPG has sort of done the job.

Do either of you use part WPG and part Advanced/Agent?

Cheers

Advance does show +/- changes.

I have used WPG in the past quite heavily and was satisfied with it, but we found that there were some reporting errors where rankings weren't always reported accurately - IE we could run a report then check rankings right away and find different results.

What you should do is download demos for both Advance and Agent - advance has a 30 day trial and agent has a 15 day trial - you can then put them thru their paces to see which works the best for you.

advanced web ranking stores al your rank reports based on date...and you can have it displayed in a bunch of different ways including a line graph, or a simple list of keywords and their rankings with blue and red arrow to indicate a rise or fall. I think they let you try it out for free, but the demo is limited to one url.

I have never really used any Ranking Software because of the way Google changes the rules. They always seem to catch up to the software shortcuts and eventually send your site spinning down the index list. I tend to go by a simple sometimes a little time consuming system that always seems to work. But am open to learn more about software that does not have shady practices.

Thanks.

Anyone among you got the chance to use Ranking Manager? I'd like to see how it is compared to the other stat software programs.

Thanks.
