Spammers on my Blog Site
A spammer picked one of the articles on my blog and began spamming the comment on it. They add several ever links every day. They are not porn links but to a search engine and poker site.
I hardly ever use that blog anymore, I post to another. How does this spammer affect ranking, if at all? Should I delete all of the comments? Any thoughts on this? Last edited by Elisabeth : 01-18-2006 at 08:36 PM. |

I'm afraid I don't know what software you're using, so I can't offer more specific advice - but as to this:

I deleted those blogs completly. I had someone email me and tell me that they get an email everytime the spammer comments.
It is the older B2 blog. I have switched to Wordpress. I may just delete the whole thing. Thanks for your comment. I was wondering if I lose page rank by having all of these links to other sites. I bet I would. Thanks again. |

There are some nasty bots about that simply ping servers for key files - MovableType was atrociously targeted in this manner - they did't look for the comments form, just comments.cgi.
Sorry to hear about the spamming - personally, I wouldn't worry about the PageRank - just developing sites that mean something to you and can serve your sense of quality. And good move on the Wordpress - best anti-spam I've seen, especially compared to MT and B2. |

Blog Spamming.
I have had this problem on my blog, I delete these spamming post as fast as possible. I am not sure if it has any real affect on ranking with sites like Google because google realizes that you really can't control who post on your blog just try to eliminate them as often as you can because as for now they do not seem like thay are slowing down.
