Check out webuildpages SEO tools and Instant Position, to start. You'll find some other good ones too, and I am sure people will post them here. Good luck!

I'm biased but try this free keyword research tool and free web analytics software. Also, take a look at Bob Mutch's very comprehensive SEO tool list

Let me put in a personal request for people suggesting their own tools to mention their privacy policies. I'm reluctant to use some tools where I'm entering sensitive information and no privacy policy is posted.

I'll comply. Read our privacy policy. Note that the free web analytics software (won't re-post links) mentioned in previous post is open source. It can be modified to track all sorts of traffic and runs on an Apache web server. No privacy issues there as the code runs on your own server. The free keyword tool scrapes meta keywords from your competition. No information is kept. Well, if someone types an invalid domain the code will have a problem and will write to an error log. That error log is deleted on a regular basis. No privacy issue there, either.

Building your PageRank can be a little tricky and
expensive. I build my PageRank purely using grace domains & seeking
software. There is a newsletter out for it that might help and I think
it comes with the software too

FYI for Robert and others, I can't speak for WBP's Privacy Policy, but I know them personally and highly doubt they would do anything dubious. Instant Position's is clearly bolded and only one line long: "We will never sell or share your information with any other company, period."

I agree that this is an important topic...there are so many places that offer information out there purely with the end-goal of harvesting marketing data. Evil marketers...
