Site ranking in google does not improve after months of work

Hi,
I have promoted several sites in the past including my own and always got good results on ranking in google on the long run.

I have designed a site for a client close to 2 years ago, the site is fully optimized with genuine content and I have spent lots of time adding it to related directories and engines, have done link exchange campaigns (manullay) with striclty related sites only but the ranking does not seem to improve one bit.

I have asked the client if someone else before may have done some SEO work on their site and might have upset google in any way in the past but they are saying no previous work had been done.

When running related searches sites that have absolutely no relevant content show before this site.

Furthermore google still only shows 4 back links to the site even months after adding to directories..

Would any one have any idea?
Regards,
Olivier

SEO1 can only hope to improve
Hi there

If after two years you are having these issues..then the problems lie not in the links I believe.. but on server issues, page coding, or a slim chance the industry / category the site is in.

A bad server or code errors can do a lot more harm than is realized.
