New Directory: www.jambun.com
Hi,
We are setting up a new site where people can promote events / partys. Part of the site allows users who sell / provide services to register in the appropiate categories and by geographic location. The most appropiate page is http://www.jambun.com/shopping.asp We would be most interested in feedback i.e. the usability of the site etc and also how we could get people with websites to register.... is there any kind of directory annoucement page / site? Thanks in advance for all your help / input etc... Darren Last edited by orion : 02-14-2005 at 10:45 PM. Reason: removing email |

Hello, I would recommend removing your session id's to start. The site overall looks good but the id's may run you a problem
cheers WC |

thanks for the quick response...and confirming something we were thinking. We are going to remove the session id now. We are also going to remove the session id as this by default is set to a global value... if the user drills down we will allow it in.
Cheers Daz. |

you may want to rewrite the URLs to get rid of many of the & and = symbols that are in there.

Hi there,
I did not like the fact that the page made me scroll all the way to the bottom, past the directory, to find that there were no matches to my search. In fact why insert the directory before the search results? I do not see the problem with the URL containing ASP code ( = ? & ) Also, design layout needs work. There are too many colours and not a consistent design theme. You could probably have a lot of fun with the strawberry! ^_^ cheers, |

hi everyone,
I've finally manged to create a new version of my search/directory engine. Although I am going to be making further improvments next week I thought I would announce a new release of the script thank you for everyone for their help, I know I have along way to go in getting it right but its really fun! ![]() So my next question relates to marketing etc, are there any mailing lists forumns where I could get the search engine annouced? I need to get two things done: 1) get people to subit their sites / pages to the directory , so how can I do this. I've seen lots of software (by various vendors) that do URL submissions, so how do I get my directory listed in this software, is it a matter of writing to each vendor seperatly? 2) What are the rules with regards getting other search engines to index mine? If I search Google for jambun.com/search.asp I get two pages found. I think this is because I use the variable &position=CC (where 'CC' is a variable referring to a category, in this case it is the category Lightening_Special_Effects). Is it best to change this to something like jambun.com/Index/Audio/Visual/Lightening_Special_Effects.html ? Any ideas and advice most appreciated dazzler Last edited by orion : 02-14-2005 at 10:46 PM. Reason: Removing link and email. No email signatures, please. |

You have to ease off of the monetization in the beginning. You have 2 Google ad skyscrapers side by side - for starters. You want to spend a little time with the design... after all first impressions can be lasting and right now it looks a little amateurish though that seems to be prevalent in certain countries even at a high corporate level.
But setting a higher standard makes the site exude confidence and the impression of talent and stability. |
