Autogenerated, Cloaked RSS feed?

Hey y'all

I'm going to TRY to be as short as possible:

Correct me if I'm just slow, but I think they're is a new, very clever way to quickly trump the competition that could very well blow their doors off...

In researching rss feeds, I decided that I wanted to be the one CREATING the content, not just using the content of others. My plan is to submit my home-grown rss feed, created with feedforall to syndic8 for anyone to grab and add to their blog. Essentially, I want to syndicate my work, observations in my field, etc.

Just yesterday, I noticed a brand new competitor had risen to the top of the list in any given search - they are listed on syndic8 as a resource for rss feeds. I put their rss feed into my feed reader, downloaded their items, and studied their posts and where the links on the item/posts led to. Those links led to what was obviously cloaked/or autogenerated content!!!!!!!!

Further, the "teaser" or description for the rss feed item was basically the first paragraph of the landing page where the resource link linked to. The keywords in the title of the item, the keywords in the teaser for the item, and the keywords on the landing page for that article/blog item all matched perfectly.

So what are they doing??? They have an auto-generated, keyword specific, rss feed. Instead of having an rss feed with other people's links/content, they have their own - and they don't have to type all day. They don't have to come up with new articles or pages to their site. It's all auto generated and fed into blogs and rss readers all over the internet.

So how are they doing it? My theory is that they are creating dynamic content (with cloaking software?), scraping thier OWN content that has been autogenerated with templates (and somehow scraping by keyword and at the same time creating a teaser with that keyword), turning that into an rss feed, and submitting that rss feed to places like syndic8 for all the world to grab and post to their blog (using rss2blog??).

To those of you who DON'T know how to implement this - I'd like to collaborate with any of you that are in the same boat as me...pm me with your comments and we'll figure out how to do this.

To those of you who DO know how to implement this - what are your thoughts? Please share with us your method!

And if anyone needs clarification, please "reply" to this post!

over an' out,
ash

Exactly they way you're suggesting. They're auto-generating the content on their own sites and making a RSS feed available of that content. And by the way--it takes a lot of good programming/coding to do it.

I have a feeling I know exactly who you're referring to. By the way--I personally cannot take credit for the actual coding.

new info

I just learned that a module of rss2blog, linkbuilder, can help with the process described above. 3-4 more hours and I'll have it figured out
