Changing Yahoo! Directory Title?

Hello All,

I apologize that my first post to these forums is very self-serving. I work for a small software company, and our title tag in the Yahoo! directory was created by a short-sighted former employee, long long ago. Our title tag is an obsolete version of our product we no longer sell anymore!

I'd like to use the Yahoo! change form to change our listing--but unfortunately no one knows what address was used to create the account probably 4-5 years ago. I've submitted a few tickets via the interface in Yahoo! but I'm not overly optimistic. Anyone have words of encouragement or suggestions on how to get the title updated?

Thanks!

Jeremiah

Thanks! I did try the suggestion to

On the change form, we ask for the email address you originally used to submit your request. If you can't remember it, use the form anyway, including any possible addresses in the "Message" area. This will help us locate your record.
a few weeks ago. I know they say to wait 3-4 weeks, so I wasn't particularly impatient (though my boss is!). Not having had success in about 3 weeks, I'm guessing it's because the e-mail address(es) that I'm using for guessing aren't right--so I filled out a few of their "trouble tickets" asking for further guidance, without any more success.

Now, I did notice this time an e-mail address for url-support@ ... I might try that...

Thanks!

Jeremiah

Keep in mind that because it is a directory listing, Yahoo will use either company name or web site name as title. If your company name has changed then you may be able to get the title changed but if not and the current title reflects the company name or name of site, then your requests will probably go ignored.

David is right, unless the company name has changed they probably won't make any changes to your directory listing's title.

I wouldn't bother emailing them, I'm confident that going through their regular support procedure will make sure that it goes to the right department.

Success!

After a few more weeks of waiting, my approach of polite trouble-tickets seems to have paid off. Without a word of confirmation or reasoning, our Yahoo listing changed. Thank you everyone for your feedback.

Same problem I am facing with one of my client site(tourtravelguide.com). In the past site was on free server but after take over the site coming in it's own domain.

I have requested to change it's site title, description and URL but only URL has changed yet. Old site's title and description which are NOT matching with current website nature. I have requested change of listing once again on 4 Jun 2006 but still showing old title and description.

I am not sure what I do next for update the site title and its description, please suggest me.

I agree….

“Going through their regular support procedure will make sure that it goes to the right department”

This method has worked for me. It took a little time, but it paid off.

Best of Luck!
