Dmoz Editor Profile Page Rank
I had look at the Dmoz Editor profiles here:
http://dmoz.org/profiles/ I noted that some active editors profiles do not show Page Rank despite the fact they are active editors and edit High Page Rank directories. Other editors that are not active still show Page Rank. What it is the mistery? |

How many are listed on the page, and how many KB is the page in size? Are the ones with no PR toward the beginning, the middle, the end or all over the place on the page?

Maybe the whole page isn't being indexed, it's huge.

I think I can give part of the answer. To state the obvious first - the profile PR reflects the links to it from the categories in which the person is listed as editor.
When an editor resigns or times out, his/her name remains on the categories he/she was listed for until an edit is made to those categories. In some cases it might take many months. Even then Google toolbar PR lags behind the real PR, so it won't drop instantly. Likewise when an editor climbs the Dmoz ladder to bigger categories with higher PR, his/her profile PR should climb too, but it won't show instantly on the toolbar. In a tiny number of cases, the editor profile may be affected by Google penalties on certain categories. http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/S...g/Directories/ currently has PR 0. Genie is correct.
The editor name appears in the category in which he/she edits and is linked to the profile. This link passes PR to the profiles page. If an editor edits a high PR page, then it passes more PR to his profile page. |

A couple of other points perhaps should be mentioned.
1) Some profiles will also have inbound links from outside the ODP, raising the PR beyond what might be expected. At one time I linked to my ODP profile from a page about the ODP on my site, just so people could find out what my connection with the ODP was. 2) Some profiles may gain a penalty because of links to 'bad neighbourhoods'. |
