So there have been many previous guesses about a "google Grid" OS -- where various computing functions are distributed on PCs all over the place.

But where's Google's advantage in trying to distribute yet another OS? I think web apps and browser support is where Google is headed. As broadband bandwidth and speeds go up, people won't mind downloading and installing small Google apps either.
