Arrow SEO Pros, view this website and find all the errors.

Hello SEW community,

Our site is www.markdavidny.com - A Madison Avenue Real Estate Agency.

We are currently rebuilding it to make it more SEO friendly. So far, we have identified the following problems:

1) Mod Rewrite must be installed http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html for delivery of the dynamic content. The Apache Mod Rewrite will prevent the “?” from appearing in the URLs and make the pages SEO friendly. All dynamic content must be mod-rewritten.

2) A text based site map is needed.

3) The headline of each page/ property listing MUST be reflected in the <TITLE> tag

4) Use H1 and H2 tags instead of text embedded in images.

5) H1 should be the property listing’s title, H2 should be the description. Remember, you can use CSS to prevent modifying the look.

6) If possible, use ALT tags on important images.

7) Files and directories should use keywords when naming them.

8) Drop down menus must be written using DHTML for internal link building / anchor text embedding

SEO pros, try to locate any other potentional problems, or necessary improvements.

Thanks to all!

Will that be cash, check, credit card or PayPal?

Lightbulb I thought it would be fun!

I thought this would be a fun game for all! Sorta like Where's Waldo for SEOs.

wow, I didn't know it worked like that. I'm gonna go into the designers' forums and ask them to create me a logo from a stick figure picture now.

No site review section?

Many other forums (SEO Chat, Digital Point, DaniWeb, etc) have a section for site reviews, where members gladly review others sites. Here on SEW, I seem to be an oddball when I asked for a site review. If only there was a category here...

Maybe a category will help.

Without looking at your site, it seems like you are already doing an excellent job of spotting out errors.

Yep, that's precisely why we don't do site reviews here. So many other places have them

this thread has hasn't been deleted because it isn't pure self-promo, but it borders on that too, one of the other reasons we don't do site reviews, they can be abused for that reason.

we usually only look at/allow site examples when it relates to a specific problem or SEM issue. Of course SEO friendly design is a big one, so again, it hasn't been deleted, because the topic is valuable.

However, here, it's better positioned as a thread such as "Ten Steps to Creating an SEO Friendly Design" - may I suggest you flip around the issue?

Elisabeth explained the site review situation, but I wanted to touch a bit more on the oddball feeling you're having.

Marcia's post summed this up, when she asked how you wanted to pay. I'll put that more plainly. You seem to operate a substantial site. You've already demonstrated some knowledge of changes that should be made. The site sells real estate in Manhattan, so I'm going to guess that Mark David & Company probably earns pretty well. Coming over and then asking for free advice just feels odd to many of the members, I'm guessing.

If you were some small mom & pop, you'd probably find members more inclined to think, "this person could really use some free help." But in your case, you need to hire an SEM company.

Flip it around. If someone walked in and said they wanted to sell their apartment, but could you give them a few tips on how to do it without a broker, because it would be a cool "Where's Waldo" type of thing, you're probably going to be less than enthused. There's a help wanted area in the forum. My advice would be to post over there you'd like someone to come do a consult.
