I heard rumors that Yahoo! is talking to Google about a merger...
Maybe that is related. |

Google has apparently 'deindexed' every site with an Australian domain name.
Search for all domains with a .com.au in the domain name: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&c...llinurl:com.au Ok - so now look at the Google Toolbar PageRank for these sites: Murdoch's News Ltd has gone toolbar PRO http://www.news.com.au/ Fairfax's SMH has gone toolbar PRO http://www.smh.com.au/ Many Australian icon brand sites have vanished from the Search Engine result Pages: http://www.holden.com.au/ http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...off=1&q=holden http://www.vegemite.com.au/ http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...f=1&q=vegemite If this is an April fools joke - the jokes on Google Australia: http://www.google.com/search?q=google+australia Mountainview - we have a problem…. Where's that backup tape? ![]() <disclaimer - I have no commercial relationship with any of these sites> Last edited by Chris_D : 04-01-2005 at 02:12 AM. Reason: Typos, disclaimer |

Thanks Chris_D, I was just going to post that it seems to be a problem with only Australian domains. I hope they fix this soon as at the moment the results are absolutely absurd. Fair enough competitors are also out of the results but those with Adwords would be getting an even greater advantage at the moment.

I thought it might of just been isolated to Australia.
Here's the error the domains are going to http://www.perthwebsites.com/google-ninemsnsearch.JPG Google, we have a problem!! |

Well I rang Google Australia to see if they are aware of the problem and got redirected to a lady that handles enquiries about Adwords voicemail. I left a message anyway. Hopefully she will see the problem and refer it to the relevant people. However the first guy I spoke to seemed to have no idea about it.

If it is an April fools day jokje, they are a bit bloody late!!! I make it 10 to 5, and bugger me, this is a bit of a disaster: http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e... %3DcountryAU. So, AFAI can tell, .com.au is affected, but .org.au and .edu.au are fine. maybe this is a sign of Google's new no commercial site filter
![]() Am really glad actually, cause I lost a site, and saw no reason why!!! Maybe Google can fix it when they wake up. No big deal, weekend after all. |

LOL (a bad laugh, I promise). Good news is: it aint no one's fault, but it raelly proves the adage that a site with a reliance upon free SERPs is just a disaster away from going under. This, my friends, is just that disaster!!!

April Fools jokes aside, try finding sites in Google with the ".gb.com" domain - as reported by DaveN
