Google glitch? Site disappears and reappears
Hello,
My site, altfg.com, is about 4-5 months old. It gets visited by all the major search engines on a daily basis, several times each day. Google has 505 hits so far this month, and Inktomi Slurp has 265. Most pages have a "4" Google rank. A group in one folder has a "3," and a couple of other pages have a ranking of "5." Now, what I don't understand is. . . When I do a search on Google, say, for CLOSER MIKE NICHOLS, my site usually comes up as #1, 2, or 3. But if I go for CLOSER JULIA ROBERTS, my site is nowhere to be found. The page, of course, has been indexed, but I don't understand why it'd get such good ranking for a group of keywords and be literally nowhere to be found when I key in another similar group of keywords. How can that be? Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? (I understand that Roberts is more famous than Nichols, but, as per Google, there are more pages with the keywords CLOSER MIKE NICHOLS than with CLOSER JULIA ROBERTS. Also, I scrolled down all the way to the end looking for altfg in the Google listings for CLOSER JULIA ROBERTS and the site was nowhere to be found.) Also, every 4-5 weeks, my site, if searched via keywords (without typing in "altfg"), disappears from the Google listings for a few days. (In fact, this is happening RIGHT NOW.) Then it returns to about where it was before, sometimes in the same spot, sometimes a little further up, sometimes a little further down the list. I'm assuming those are sporadic Google glitches, but is there anything I can do about it to prevent my site from this temporary disappearance from the Google keyword listings every 5 weeks? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Luigi Alternative Film Guide Last edited by dannysullivan : 05-02-2005 at 07:18 AM. |
