Adwords and YouTube

So why are YouTube ads managed outside of adwords?

We didn't have much of a need to create our own YouTube ads, however being able to place PPC based links within existing video's is something we're interested in.

Has anyone had any success with this?

Hey Barry

Your example is a useful one, however that is PPC for your own YouTube videos correct? I believe it may be related.

What I am talking about are In-video text ads which are text ads that contextually match to videos across the Content Network and will overlay the bottom of the video screen while a user is watching the video.

I **believe** Google identifies what they see as premium video publishers by having publisher apply to be syndicated and allow for ads. Google then allows advertisers to place in-video text ad overlays. Google also has an adsense video partners program to run syndicated videos on thier website(s), with the advertisers ads using the Adsense Player. The adsense player uses a skin that wraps around the normal YouTube player and allows for ads units to be displayed various places.

What I don't know, is if the text overlay ads can be run on any YouTube syndicated partner's video, or only on videos that makding use of the adsense video skin.

There is a lot of opportunity at every level in this model.
Video producers, advertisers, adsense partners and well of course
Google.

My company has uploaded a bunch of YouTube videos over the last few years and have attracted literally millions of visitors to our site through our YouTube visitors. Conversions have been horrible, horrible, & horrible. We'll take all the blame of course since we must be doing something wrong. But the traffic from YouTube seems to be poor quality.

how are you getting them to your site... with embedded youtube videos or someone seeing the brand from vids in YouTube

We have just recently started trying the direct response style videos...put up a product review style video, drop our link and contact info, tout the product benefits in lowerthirds/transitions.

I hope we can get some conversions, but right now I see it as mostly a tool to:
1. Sneak into a few tough to crack SERPs organically via universal search.
2. Create trust amongst our potential customers.
3. Show customers that we are more than box pushers...we have actual product knowledge and experience.
4. Absorb the entire first page of SERP for our brand- online reputation control.

I am interested in the ability to overlay others videos though, would much rather let someone else produce the content...then just steal their thunder.
