Ya know, if google wasn't the the source I'd call it linkbait. Not a single thing in there that tells me to stop rewriting URLs.

yeah, this kind of reads as the usual kind of Google disinformation... sure keep it short, but don't take anything out, let us decide on it... yeah...
It's still good to see their thinking and might keep some people from doing a bad rewrite... Good find BEU...

Re: Google Updates the Dynamic vs. Static URL Debate

It really isn't disinformation, just the usual Google-centric view that comes out of Mountain View. It forgets that there might be other search engines around, and -- more importantly -- forgets the user. As far as I'm concerned it puts G's "What's good for the user..." mantra straight into the crapper.

Re: Google Updates the Dynamic vs. Static URL Debate

I think URL rewriting isn't as important nowadays as it used to be. There are many sites that use long URLs that are totally non descriptive, yet come up top in highly competitive web searches.

It's clearly a combination of links, content (content, content and content!), and many other factors - but don't get hung up about anything other than content. Especially, don't get hung up on URLs.

Why hide original parameters? Google does not like URL rewriting.
