Incorrect Show Map Info under Google listing
When you search for my brand keyword in Google, my website appears, but underneath the snippet is a link to Google Maps supposedly showing where my business is located. It says something like:
Show map of 3047 N Lincoln Ave, Graceland, IL 60657, USA This information is completely wrong, my business is not located here, and it’s even in the wrong country. I’ve done a little research, but haven’t found any substantial on the matter. I’ve been through the external links pointing to the domain, and there's no anchor text with that address. I’ve been through Yell.com to see if there’s an old listing there, but no luck. If anyone can give me some information about how to get rid of this link ( I don’t even care about updating to the correct address) I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance Last edited by AussieWebmaster : 09-05-2008 at 03:18 PM. |

Re: Incorrect “Show Map” Info under Google listing
Can you provide the Google Maps URL? Could there be another business with the same name?

Re: Incorrect “Show Map” Info under Google listing
If you haven't done so as yet, also be sure to list your company at G's Local Business Center.
That said, I've always found some serious disconnects between the map listings that appear in the SERPs and reality. So much so that to me they're virtually useless. An example: A search today for [long island city widget] returns 10 local results at the top of the SERPs. Most are in or near Long Island City, NY, so not too bad; and the correct result is first, good. But after I click on the corresponding map pointer I wind up not anywhere in or near New York, but in Maine, with Google proudly showing me "Results 1 - 1 of about 1 for Widget Ave, Long Island, ME 04050." This and other problems crop up much too often with the map product. It just ain't good. |

Re: Incorrect “Show Map” Info under Google listing
Thanks for your help on this Jum. I've set up a listing on the Local Business Center. Hopefully this will sort the issue. I will check for other listings of the company
