Craigslist posts in Google serps
Craigslist posts get listed in Google - one of our new members asked how to get rid of them. His question is below... feel free to help.
I'm a new member to SEW and it looks great so far. I have a question that none of the threads have addressed. How do I start a new thread? My registration says that i can but the restriction at the bottom of each page say I can't. I understand if I can't as I'm a new member. Maybe you can. I'd like to know how to post an ad on Craigslist and NOT have Google index it. Whenever I post an ad on CL, Google lists it withing a few hours. It's amazing. The problem is mt ad on CL promotes something very different from what I usually do. I'm a Programmer which is why people Google me but I'm also a Certified Credit Counselor and I've been busy these days with that. When people Google me about my programming and see that I'm a debt specialist they get confused. So, how can I post an ad on Craigslist and NOT have it show up on Google? How can I post that to your forums? |

Re: Craigslist posts in Google serps
I am checking to see if you are a moderated sign up... if so will change. Have you tried the start a thread button and are you signed in when you try?

Re: Craigslist posts in Google serps
Good question, not sure you can! I'd start by including no index meta in my ad even if not in the head. Maybe then link to a redirect URL on another domain thats disallowed via robots.txt. In some ways you're trying to control CL. Is there an option to make your listing visible to the public in CL?
Maybe make the ad an image and name it something like 1.jpg? Could mark the ad as "Adult" even maybe? Most folks SPAM CL for the very reason you're trying to avoid ![]() Last edited by beu : 07-03-2008 at 10:45 PM. |

Re: Craigslist posts in Google serps
yeah placing a bunch of new ones with same copy but different email and number would soon wipe out the older one
if you had caught it soon enough just go in and edit the text... a replacement ad is way to go I think Last edited by AussieWebmaster : 07-10-2008 at 01:27 AM. |
