Google talks about Yahoo AdWords

Well, the Shareholder Meeting is now over, so Google seems more willing to talk about the Yahoo AdWords strategy that played out over the past few weeks, and is still playing out. In fact, they seem positively relieved to chat about it...

Of course they are pleased to chat about it. They spoilt the deal with Microsoft and gained some cash from Yahoo showing Google ads.

A brilliant move by Google. I wonder if Microsoft saw it coming.

Saw it coming? Like a freight train. Yes, MS is big but they are not dumb, I bet they had all the possible scenarios mapped out in their war room.

How do we know this all was not simply an attempt to weaken Yahoo?

What's Yahoo going to do now? Compete against Google? From my point of view Yahoo just signed the papers on a low val take-over by MS. Either that or go in the slow and painful direction of other failed internet search companies... Excite, Lycos, Looksmart...

Yahoo is a Tortoise in a jumping contest with a pack of kangaroos.

Sellout? Do a deal with Google? Try and go it alone? No matter what they do, the end game for Yahoo is approaching.

I can't say i like the idea of Google controlling even more of the ad space. While the living is good when you're in good graces, we all know how fickle these guys can be, and how fast a previously acceptable practice can suddenly be deemed spam.
