Google and Yahoo Report AdWords Test to the Department of Justice
Seems the Yahoo AdWords test got a lot of attention. Google and Yahoo kept the DOJ in the loop. Why would they do that unless they had "other" bigger ideas in mind. Are we close to an announcement

Looks interesting. Based on Yahoo's Q1 reports, this test could really be a win-win for both.

Yes, this test gets more interesting each day. Now we learn that Google kept the DOJ in the loop from the beginning, I assume for regulatory purposes. Meanwhile, my AdWords ads are still running on Yahoo as of this morning.

They did it because any agreement between two huge publicly traded companies that are in the media spotlight are going to raise concerns. So better to address it before it happens than have to explain it after the fact. Regardless of their intentions for constructing such a deal.

I don't believe that this all has to do with thwarting Microsoft. Driving up an acquisition price perhaps, but there is more to this than meets the eye.
