Google Search Result Changes
This is very odd and I'm sure there is a simple explanation for it. We have been in the top 3 results for 'charlotte web design' for a long time. This week I've noticed we have dropped tremendously. The sites that are being listed above ours are:
1. Much newer 2. Have a lower PR 3. Don’t have as much relevant content I don’t see that a Google dance is taking place so I’m unsure why Google now thinks the sites above ours are more pertinent. Is there anything we can do to rectify this? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Sue |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Hey Sue, my homepage appeared in a similar position at Google. Google algorithms change too frequently to catch up and you never know which position your page will appear at next search.
Maybe the best solution to your problem will be the creation of ICDL file for your website. It'll help web crawlers to receive more precise information about your web content. Have look at www. omfica.org, where you can find online ICDL editor utility. Last edited by JohnW : 03-24-2008 at 06:55 AM. |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Interesting,
I have seen the same thing in last couple weeks. What is more strange is my other sites which were not on top have rotated up replacing the ones with better rank, content, etc., so this has me real confused. What in the world did Google change? Good luck to all, |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Since the update, the most common issue plaguing rankings is link flow average.
The algorithms calculating your link flow average from various sources has changed significantly. If you view a list of non editorial links and compare that with editorial links, you'll likely notice a drastic difference. This is in an effort from G to eliminate paid links. Even though you may not be paying for links, all those non editorial links at the bottom of pages are not providing the link flow they were a month ago and that is not likely to change. |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
I think that we can change the rule of google by creation of competitive online search market where google will be only one of several good search engines. And we will have wide choice. What do you think?

There may be many but they are the leader of the pack. I find the up and down of the page rank can make you crazy.

I can't understand one thing. Do Google satisfy to your expectations from online search? Don't you want to have alternative to Google?

Re: Google Search Result Changes
it sounds intresting to find competitor for google. Facts says that google's share in search market is increasing every month and now they have around 60% of search market. It's not easy for a new comer to compete with google now in search industry.

Re: Google Search Result Changes
it,s a temporary change i think you must see the first site it has 3000 plus backlinks and if you see the site with same domain name and same keywords i think google has a strategy for them.

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Yea,
G Changes can come any time in G Search, that's a Google Dance. if we do Hard work for back links so some time we can get rankings in Google.com but its a very Harder to get Rankings in .Co.uk ,also if our hosting server is in UK and geographic setting is ok. Many webmasters are facing same problem in search engines. Thanks Sam |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Interesting,
What use to work as a short cut now is not working, so they are changing up game again, as usual, and I suspect more to come. Another change is they must be cutting into out share of PPC revenues again as well for my clicks are dropping like a rock while hits to sites continue to increase, so anyone else in same boat? Good luck to all, Mike |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
This has affected one of my sites in a very big way. The link flow average explanation does not seem to make sense with the SERPS I'm seeing. Does anyone have an alternate more definitive explanation of the changes?

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Well lets just cover the basis.
When you say a big drop, how big exactly? 1. Have you changed anything recently - css files on page etc... 2. Linking - recips, one way or a combination? What's the percentage of recips to one way linking? 3. Whats you anchor text like? All simliar? 4. Do you use JavaScript redirects for good purposes? 5. Spammy titles or alt text? 6. Any link building recently? 7. Any onpage linking done recently? 8. Been hacked recently? 9. Content? Do you have any? 10. Nesercary directories blocked? 11. Any redirects gone up? 12. Any URL rewritting done in the last few weeks? Jaza |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
Interesting,
I have seen some very strange behavior on Google lately, the more I am looking, the more changes in search I am seeing. Makes no sense, I have not made changes to the sites I am watching, but I did add another url with slight title adjustments, and when I submit to Google, it usually takes a couple weeks to hit top five, but this time, I ended up pushing down my former number on position. I wonder if resubmitting even top my number one positioned sites will keep them all up at top longer? Will try this to see since I have established a pretty consistant pattern of time line to get to top five, so I will let you know if resumitting brings old sites back to top again. Good luck to all, Mike |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
I Lost 5,000 listings of my Url in the past month.
Im here because I wanted to know how many other sites have had the same problem? The name of my site went from 550,000 listings to just under 420,000 listings. Gee, why do is it that I work 16 hour days anyways? lol.. |

Re: Google Search Result Changes
So you have 2 sites with the same content?
You are being penalized for duplicate content. Remove 1 of the sites or change all the content on the new one and they should go back up. Jaza Last edited by Jazajay : 04-02-2008 at 09:47 AM. Reason: Odd word here and there |
