Blueprints: Google Hydro-Powered Data Center
Harpers magazine (of all places) has an article about Google's Dallas, OR DC. The DC will consume enough hydro power to power a city of 82,000 people.

Re: Blueprints: Google Hydro-Powered Data Center
Well of coarse it is. You have to think about this long term.
Water will be cheaper in turns of electricity when the fossils start to go and everyone switches due to higher prices of unrewenable energy. Also they get the environment vote for being eco-friendly in their electricity needs. They cant lose. The only reason it's water is because wind and solar at the moment aren't efficient enough for their needs, if they where it'll be one of those instead. I love articles about people saying well done to big corps. for going green when in fact they are doing it for themselves - financially - otherwise they would skew the environment like every one else.
