Link Building Strategy/Advice

Hello,

I am working on a travel website and need some tips/advice on how to get more traffic to the site. It is a static site that doesn't update.

So far, I have done a few things: did additional seo to the site, submit to more free directories, create a photo slideshow and post on youtube, answer questions on yahoo! answers w/ a link to the site, answer questions on travel forums w/ a link, and post listings on craigslist. The last three have seemed to work, but I was just wondering if there was anything else I can do.

I am looking for more ways to get traffic to the site.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Phong

So far, so good. The travel industry is tough. I recommend doing some regional research and finding regional authority sites. This can include regional business directories, blogs, and content sites. Often times, people hunt for these types of sites to research an area that they are going to be traveling to. I also recommend doing some hunting in tools like Google Trends to find out what geographic locations are supplying the most queries for your targeted keywords. Working with sites that focus in those particular regions can be very beneficial. Hope that helps!

Just submission to social book marking site will not help much since it will giv us very less traffic.

The ultimate goal should be to get on home page of these sites, which bring huge traffic. And interesting point to note is, getting at the home page is very much challenging and it's effect will be till next 24 hours maximum.

This is very true. Social media is constantly changing and it has a limited effect in most cases. YouTube is an obvious exception, but for the most part, bookmarks can get buried. They're not necessarily the best way to get traffic, although they do help in link popularity and, therefore, rankings.

Social networking and bookmarking will also increase your traffic. You can also try creating e-marketing community through Forum Posting & Message Board through joining Yahoo and MSN Groups

yep. Social Bookmarking and Social Media Sites are still good sources of traffic for a site. YOu just have to choose the sites that you'll join with (those that are do-follow and with great number of active members) for traffic and backlink purposes.

Re: Link Building Strategy/Advice

There's so many tutorials online and hot topics in this field you can get different answers all day long. I suggest taking a hard look at what your competitors are doing (and learning how to take a hard look if you havent done that yet).

If your competition is doing it well and you can identify how they're doing it, 9/10 you'll see what they could be doing better

Re: Link Building Strategy/Advice

Ok in directory submission just continue submitting regularly to directories. Don't spam. Following the guidelines, and the links will only help.
Try promotional ads in free classified ads, social bookmarking, and article submission....

Re: Link Building Strategy/Advice

Try donate your money to very popular sites e.g open source software. Most of them would like giving you return in the form of link placement.
