Google Video Sitemaps

Google has just released information on sitemaps for video:

Anyone out there using video and if so have you tried this feature?

"Google Video Sitemaps is an extension of the Sitemap protocol that enables you to publish and syndicate online video content and its relevant metadata to Google in order to make it searchable in the Google Video index. You can use a Video Sitemap to add descriptive information – such as a video’s title, description, duration, etc. – that makes it easier for users to find a particular piece of content. When a user finds your video through Google, they will be linked to your hosted environments for the full playback."

I've been toying with the idea of integrating some relevant video into a customer's site to experiment with video and universal search. This may be what finally pushes me into action. Thanks for the post!

I think this is a great move by Google... I guess Yahoo and Microsoft will not be far behind!

I have been working on Google Video Sitemaps since they lauched it and have written up an article over at:

In it I include some sample code and images for clarity.

Also, currently working on a free utility so that any webmaster can easily creat a Video Sitemaps for submission to Google.

...I started using them the moment the option was released by Google.

Soon got fed up hand coding the XML file and so created some software to
make the valid XML file.

Now I am giving it away free!
