iGoogle hanging and abominably slow

I love the choice of content options, but using iGoogle as my IE start page causes the browser to "hang" since there are so many HTTP requests for external sources that take so long to load.

This makes any internet navigation at all impossible, and often-times results in inability to close the browser window, and having to send a problem report to Microsoft, after many tries to close the window have failed.

There really are some usability issues with this feature that need to be addressed.

As a Mac/Firefox user this is good information to know! With what version of IE and on what OS are you experiencing this issue?

Plain vanilla, off the shelf Windows XP and IE6.

Re: iGoogle hanging and abominably slow

I use Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer and have had no trouble with any of them. I set up separate accounts and they all seem to work fine. Personally, I like Opera the best, Firefox second and Safari last. Explorer is required for some websites, so I need it sometimes.

I think there is a specific gadget that is hanging you up. Try taking the gadgets off one by one and see which one it is.
