How to increase traffic to a website?

Hai,

Mine is a travel related site. It has PR3 and ranks good for the main keywords. I want to increase the traffic to my site. can anyone tell me, how to do it?

I have heard about Blogs, submitting articles to Ezine sites, RSS feeds etc. Will this be useful ? Can anyone help?

When you say blog posting with text links, are talking about using the text within your post and making it a link???
I haven't much experience on blog posting, and was wondering if posting a blog with your website link is good blog etiquette. just curious???

However, links from forum sig, blogs can generate some traffic, you should give more importance to get links from relevant sites. You can go for both one way as well as reciprocal links. You should focus more on relevancy. The more the links from these sites are better the ranking and the traffic.

Some people say this because they are SEO charlatans and don't know what they are talking about. Just like all those that still say they know "SEO" and talk about meta tags.

Assuming the original question was talking about TRAFFIC and not targeted traffic, one could do anything. Spam blogs, forums, myspace, facebook, yahoo answers, google answers, craigslist, phone book directories, citysearch, etc. Any of those would generate traffic - assuming the original post was talking about traffic and not targeted traffic. Big difference.

For SEO - forums and blogs are not valuable links. And some forums disallow or have no follow tags for links. Same thing with PR & article submission. Those provide temporary links - but can quickly fall out. Also, gotta be careful about duplicate content with those submissions. You wanna keep the good stuff on your site and change it up when you send that out for submission.

Submit the site to differnt directories as well and exchange link with sites having one or two number higher page rank then your own site.getquickseo.com did the same when i consult it for my brothes's site tenpearls.com to increase our site's PR

Can you share with us how link value is determined. If your website has links pointing from a PR5 forum to your site, how much different would that be to have a PR2 website pointing to your site. Is there a way that the layman can determine this???

It's more complicated than that. If the page linking to you is deeply buried and (although no longer labeled) is in the supplemental index, then the link value isn't as high as a link from a top level page.

The High PR linking is assuming "fair links" meaning - the link is text-based, keyword-rich, on the home page (where the high PR is), and a direct link to you. You could have a high PR site, but the referring link could have no PR.

Easiest rule of thumb? If it's too easy (like submission), it's most likely not valuable. (warning, not a cardinal rule!)

Have you considered starting an affiliate program.
An affiliate program would certainly increase your traffic, not to mention also strengthen your brand within the search engines, whereas your affiliates are most likely good SEO's and would rank for relevant keywords, products, or phrases, just a suggestion.

Why don't you create more content, more pages with content? More content more traffic from SE, you can also promote content trough social sites.
