Tool for 301 checking?

Hi to all!

Is anyone aware of a tool that lets you check if there are any urls outside your domain that have a 301 redirect pointing at urls in your domain?

Thanks

Re: Tool for 301 checking?

I was just curious after reading a post by Aaron Wall that talks about how you could "test" the trust a link passes by linking to an orphan page. If the link in question hurts you, you could 301 that page to a competitor's (if you wanted to play dirty). After reading this I wondered how I could find out something like that if I were the competitor.

Ahhh, I see why but I don't know how! You might PM Aaron Wall aka SEOBook and ask him:

Please let us know if there is such a tool!

Re: Tool for 301 checking?

try www.rexswain.com http header checker to see if a specific URL returns a 301/ 302 etc, but I'm not aware of a tool that finds pages on other sites that 301 to your pages.

Re: Tool for 301 checking?

Thanks Chris. I usually use the Live HTTP headers firefox extension myself. I guess the tool I am looking for doesn't exist. I've been doing some research and haven't come up with anything.

Re: Tool for 301 checking?

There are a ton of good ones listed in Google for a search on http://www.google.com/search?q=http%...0checker&pws=0

Yea, it is important to make sure your redirects are returning the proper responses.

Re: Tool for 301 checking?

If pages are properly 301ed, then the search engines should pick them up as back links.

So logging into Google Webmaster Central and clicking on your links section should show you all your backlinks (not sorted by 301ed redirects, unfortunately). Same with Yahoo Site Explorer.
