Multiple domains - is it worth to drive traffic

Hallo everybody,

I'm specializing in website construction, and have my own page. Not long ago i purchased a few domains with names like 'internetwebsites', 'internet-websites', 'internetpages' and so on.
I wonder if you have some ideas to drive traffic to my general page. Or should I construct separate pages, with no links at all? Or some particular link system?

I'm aware that these pages with good domain names could be regarded as spam pages by SE?

Thanks in advance

if you want to drive traffic to your website, you should develop that website not multiple other ones. You should create a good website, with content on it that other webmasters might want to link to, if they like it(b/c it has interesting content).

Then you should learn about the basics of SEO, most of which you can read on the internet for free and optimize your site for the search engines. Whereas becoming an SEO consultant would probably take a lot of work (its not that easy), you can still benefit from the search engines and get traffic from them by knowing the basics of SEO.

If those other domains you bought receive a good amount of type-in traffic (users typing it into their search browser right away) and they're related to your main website, you could use them to send traffic there. However, if they don't receive a lot of traffic (which would be my guess), then forget about them and concentrate on your main website.

You dont need to worry about any 'particular link system' either. You should really just create content that is useful to people so they will want to link to it voluntarily, make your website crawlable, find the right keywords for your website and then learn how to get links (all of this is basic SEO stuff and while you probably wont become a master at them in no time, you can still reap great benefit from knowing what you can and should do and what you shouldn't do at all).

Did you register those 3 domains you mentioned or were those just similar examples? I really don't mean to sound mean, but I'm wondering if those domain names are really as good as you believe they are. My guess would be, that they get hardly any type-in traffic, at all (correct me if I'm wrong please?Im only assuming) and they cater to a very generic audience.

One thing I would really suggest to you is to find a 'niche'. A field, that many people are interested in (you can use keyword-tools such as inventory.overture.com and freekeywords.wordtracker.com to find such terms) and that have little competition. That's your best bet if you want to make a website, that ends up receiving a lot of traffic. If you make a very generic website (internetwebsites.com sounds like that?), chances are you'll have a hard time getting much traffic from the search engines, as there are already countless generic sites and it would be hard to rank in such a hypersaturated market.
