PRWeb vs. PRNewswire

Hey everyone!

We are beginning a small PR campaign at my company. We are a tech company and want the releases optimized on the net and spread to the appropriate news aggregators. Does anyone have any experience with these 2 pr outlets? I would assume PRWeb is more internet focused. Does this make them better for SEO tactics than PRNewswire?

Any advice is welcome.

PRWeb vs PRB: Who's the SEO Leader?...

Interesting timing and post, Mike.

I've been using BOTH services since 1998, and went exclusive with PRWeb in 2001/2002 for exactly the comments within your post: for Online Visibility and getting results that are measurable in the search engines, it's PRWeb.com all the way.

Both firms are quality in their email media deliverey. The difference is PRWeb was developed from the first line of code as a search engine friendly service. So good are they at bringing SEO-compatibility to press releases that two leading firms have contracted to employ PRWeb's Online Visibility Engine in their press release services: BusinessWire and Billboard.com (the dot-com of Billboard Magazine). These folks could pick anyone to partner with for press release optimization and distribution services. Evidently they know something about the business.

PRWeb was also first to employ RSS feeds, and have incorporated a number of other cool technologies to broadcast your press release over a broad online space.

There are some other assets I can address if you're interested (including showing you how to create a truly search-optimized press release, attachments and copy). Just ask and I'll email you notes, or send your press release and I'll do a little tweaking and get it back to you with additional notes on how to make it rock the results.

Enjoy! We've found optimized PR to be the very best solution for getting my Brainstorming Software above the noise of other technologies (yes, we also employ PPC, Articles and organic SEO solutions). We also create PR for the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the largest Pool Fence Manufacturer in the US. PRWeb keeps leads flowing in, articles happening, syndication of our PR growing, and backlinks driving our page rank and online presence. Happy clients means this machine is working for them.

And that works for us.

Warm regards,
ME

Just as an aside, I went to publish a story on PRWeb today and received a message to say that they no longer distribute press releases for free. Their cheapest package is now $80.

ME: Yes, French, $80 is the level that still provides all of the essential features necessary to get maximum online visibility while still keeping a low, low cost (I've worked closely with David McInnis and the PRWeb team on ensuring that me and my clients get the best price/performance of any online newswire. PRWeb is still 1/3rd or less than the equivalent distribution of competing services. There's now enough margin that the company can grow their business at a reasonable rate and handle the personal editing and handholding that every release receives. In addition, the channel relationships that the company has developed are escalating in cost, and these can be addressed effectively while still keeping the price of the release low).

Those of us who use PRWeb to help escalate traffic, backlinks and PR value have probably been using the $120 (SEO Level) and $200 the majority of the time anyhow. If not, take a look at the new features at all levels. The company did a good job of implementing improvements that will give us increasingly valuable results in owning your position on the SE's and media.

I'll get back with you if I find any new news. I'll be working to clarify the new features of this system upgrade, so look for comments with some meat in my next post.

One more thing: My company uses PRWeb in a few SEO-centric ways. We've also done trials of other services (the high-end ones as well as freebies and mid-range). We've committed to using PRWeb because the dang thing works, and the company and their engineers add more value, faster, and in more relevant ways, than any of the firms I've worked with. They have effectively become like an extension of our firm's media/SEO/SEM/Social Media programs. Sort of a one-stop-shop.

(For SEO folks: there's also a significant benefit of using one service and stacking your PR. If you need to know more on that, let me know, and I'll send you an article I composed on the subject).

I encourage you folks to call and find an internal contact there (there are 30+ editors who handle releases, plus a web 2.0 Director, marketing folks and support... a good crew, and very responsive). You can get some insights and expedite your press releases as well.

One more thing: I encourage you not to stop with the composition of a press release as your SEO tool. The copany has launched a number of very cool apps. that accomplish SEO magic when used together. Here's a quick list:

There are more on the way, but here's why i mention these: Used in conjunction with your press release, you can create quite a lot of internal/external linking. With PRWeb being a PR8 (Page Rank 8) site, and the others close behind, you can imagine the fun that can be had.

I'll provide a primer on how to use these services together in a future post, but you smart guys will figure it out.

Thanks again for allowing me to voice my opinion. More in a bit.

Warm regards,
ME
