Google Domains Buys - For Self Protection or Growth?

According to three recent posts at Resource Shelf by Gary Price, Google has been buying some interesting domains of late. One domain was discussed at Digital Point Forums, which dealt with the possibilities for googlemastercard.com. Let's see if we can start some good rumors in here about what google intends to do with the domains in Gary’s lists?
