Search engines search for specific keyword

Wondering if you can answer a question I have. On our analytics program (clicktracks) we see a lot of instances where a search engine searches a particular keyword. I know it's not an individual user doing this and don't quite understand why an engine would randomly pick one and search it on our site. Anybody have a concrete answer or even an educated guess would be appreciated. Happy long weekend everybody!

If that is true, and that's a search engine and not a spammer or site scraper or anyone but the search engine, I'd suspect the bot to check out what else you have on the topic.

Now it'd be interesting to know how the search query is related to your site topic and if you got pages indexed or visited by the bot that were shown as the result of the search query.
