Subdomain Limit Per Domain
I am currently looking into starting up a few free niche hosting websites. My question is... do you think any of the major search engine will ever make a rule that states that you can only have x amount of subdomains per domain?

Don't all jump at once.

It would be absurd to create a cutoff based upon a set number, since different websites have different types of content and different organizational schemata.

There is no exact number. I would love to be able to tell you 174.45 subdomains is the most you should have for a 12394 page site. But I can not tell you if that is true.
Depends on your intent with those subdomains. ![]() |

I think it would be hard for them to just put up an arbitrary number. There are several very large sites and populare sites with lots of subdomains (50+). This sites have 1000+ links in dmoz because of the subs.

How many did some guy get indexed in Google in that "bad data push" last week?
Several billion sub-sub-domains wasn't it? |
