DoubleClick links integrated into Google system

It looks like Google finally integrated DoubleClick into Google's own ad-serving system. The domain "googleads.g.doubleclick.net" is now being used in the way that "googlesyndication.com" used to be used, with Google-type ad URL parameters. URLs using "doubleclick.net" used to have a completely different format.

Some tracking systems may need to be modified. We're updating SiteTruth's AdRater plug-in.

This is most significant for those who ran DoubleClick's now-unneeded infrastructure. On December 7, press reports announced "Report: Google to lay off 300 at DoubleClick".

Re: DoubleClick links integrated into Google system

(AdRater updated at sitetruth.com to handle merger, as above.)

Does anybody bother with anything other than Google AdWords any more? Is there any other ad system that matters enough that we should track it?

Re: DoubleClick links integrated into Google system

To me everything is about incremental conversion on top of Google's. The other top two (Yahoo and MSN Adcenter) still provide enough quality traffic to obtain additional conversions, however pricing and volume have to be kept in close check.

After that you have 2nd tier networks where fraud runs rampant and no amount of monitoring or low ball pricing can overcome the junk clicks.
