Google Webmaster Chat - Wednesday, Oct. 22nd

The folks at Google are hosting their third webmaster chat Wednesday, October 22nd at 9:00 a.m. Pacific time. The featured presentation is John Mueller's "Frightening Myths and Misconceptions." They'll have a "Three for Three" segment addressing issues that have popped up on the Groups board, plus plenty of Q&A.

Registration is necessary to participate.

See you all there.

Re: Google Webmaster Chat - Wednesday, Oct. 22nd

Two specific points I pulled out through all of the noise:

>>Matt Cutts in general discussion - The supplemental index is purely based on PR.

>>From Wysz in Moderator answers - As opposed to the Webmaster Central blog post of a few months ago to keep 301s in place for 6 months, this answer recommended keeping them in place "as long as you have control over the URL."

The session was technically very poor. Made even worse when trying to leave feedback on the exit questionnaire. Kept getting an exceeded the maximum character error without a hint as to what the allowed maximum character was, simply I "Try again." And hey, all I did was not quite fill the provided text box.

Here's what I tried to submit:

Quote:
Technically it was very frustrating. While the Webex platform has its problems, splitting the question portion off to Moderator compounded them. Very hard to pay attention to material when juggling windows.

Specific Moderator recommendation - answered questions should be pinned and my viewed answers should be indicated. Too dynamic as it is now to keep track.

Audio -- very, very poor. Besides the couple of tech problems, presenters simply cannot use speakerphones. Indistinct mumblings coupled with background echo make for incoherence.

Lastly, I'm sure Maile presented something of value, but I have no idea what it was. Please, please send her for some presentation training.

I look forward to you folks getting the material online so I can see what I missed.

Overall though, as always, thanks for the effort.
