Post Google Algorithm Update Oct 2008

Hi All,

Did anyone notice change in Google search listings?, keywords shuffling has been seen in Google.com but not in local Google like Google.in, Google.co.uk so on

Also results are not upto for top competitive keywords, Google lists sites with no quality content and less popularity

Any testing going on, Any idea, please advice

Thanks in advance,
Jag

Re: Google Algorithm Update Oct 2008

Our sites have jumped up a lot of some competitive keywords, so I'm not personally complaining about any tweaks to the new algorithm.

Re: Google Algorithm Update Oct 2008

There was a lot of stuff that started to get noticed around Friday or so. Over at WmW Matt Cutts chimed in:

Quote:
I don't consider those rankings indicative of anything coming in the future. Some data went into the index without all of our quality signals incorporated, and it should be mostly back to normal and continuing to get back to normal over the course of the day.
So it basically looks like its just another one of those "bad data pushes." Guess it also means that G will be pushing new data when they get this mess cleaned up.

This time 2 years ago all of our records dropped out the indexes for no apparent reason, so I have been on both sides of the fence now!

Re: Google Algorithm Update Oct 2008

I noticed yesterday that depending on whether I am logged into my Google account effects my ranking on one particular term. For instance, when I am not logged in I rank #4, when I am logged in I am #1, but this only happens when I am logged into a specific account that is not even tied into this specific site. Is that not weird? Oh and it is one of my main keywords too.

Re: Google Algorithm Update Oct 2008

Not too surprising, that's the way it's supposed to work, bring you different results based on your prior search history.

Has any noticed a large drop in IBL count? Do you think Google has had a clear up in this area?
