Spider doesnt support cookies - 2 identical sites
Hi,
Situation #1 I am the owner of 1 site with 2 languages (english and spanish). There are no difference regarding URLS for english and spanish the only difference is by cookie. Situation #2 I created a separate site (other URL) only for english in order to get search search with unique URL's separate from my 1st website. From a direct perspective, the two sites are identical except a spider that doesn't support cookies would only see Spanish on my 1st website and only English on my new English site. What you guys think about this technique? Any recommendations? |

Re: Spider doesnt support cookies - 2 identical sites
Google posted an official topic relating to this some time back.
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...gual-site.html It doesn't 100% related to your situations here, but it gives another option for doing it. |

Re: Spider doesnt support cookies - 2 identical sites
It probably isn't the best solution, DJ, but as long as the English version on the first site cannot and will not be exposed to the search engines it should be okay.
I would rather have both language versions on the same site in order to make it easier to build link equity. Set it up to serve in whatever default language you choose, making sure that all pages can be reached without cookies; then only set a cookie if a language choice was made. Thanks for the link, Sarge, good info in there. |
