Publishing Content
I've posted a similar thread before, JimBeetle, forgive me, but I need more answers if anyone can help...
![]() Syndication of Content: 1.Are we correct to assume that if we are the author of content, and the article differs some from the content on our homepage, this is not duplicate content? 2. If we use subsets of the same content on future and post them on forums/blogs with keyword anchor text links, would that be an issue for dup content and spamming (taking into regard the rules of the blog/forum) 3. If we publish an article on a station and it suddenly gets downloaded 50 times, will we get punished for spamming the keyword anchor text on the two links? (we target 2 anchor text phrases) 4. We also have been told to focus on landing pages and slowly to other pages. Does this mean if we publish many articles for syndication and they point to different landing pages with different keyword anchor text, that we are messing with our page rank? Thankssssssssss a lot! Re: Publishing Content
1.) In most cases publishing a different version is a good idea if you are the source.
2.) Most blogs will no follow links. 3.) You want to be seen by engines as the source but either way technically you wouldn't be punished just filtered. 4.) As I understand the question, it is hard to say but anchor text and landing page are important factors in ranking. |

Re: Publishing Content
I would defintely recommend publishing content on other sites that is different from what is on your website. What I am seeing happening is that the unique articles I am publishing to submission sites are actually ranking for some related terms, so I am actually getting decent referral traffic from the submission sites, which I never expected. Then of course the links within the articles that direct back to my site have also had a positive impact on some rankings. As a side note, I have been doing most of this as a link building effort for my deeper pages and not my homepage.

Re: Publishing Content
Thanks Casey,
We also have been told by our SEO advisors to take the Eg 800 word article, and break them down to 4 x 200 word articles and target the selected keyword phrase with these. They recommend posting these subsets on niche blogs/forums or social bookmarking sites etc at a slow tempo to increase the ranking on these keywords for us. The backlinks to our homepage and to selected pages on our website. What are your thoughts? (if it helps, we run a travel search engine) Thanks for all the advise, I'm gaining a lot of insight. |
