Insight into FB/Social Media Users based on FB Relationship Status

Just read an interesting article from CNN reporting on Facebook users and their relationship status.

These are mainly college-aged individuals, but collectively represent the general user behavior of Facebook users.

According to the article, FB users DO treat relationship status as legitimate. In other words, social interaction is legitimized on Facebook. By their own admission, they are not afraid to display themselves out in the open. They use FB to interact, to keep in touch with people they would otherwise NOT have time to keep in touch with.

There is tremendous insight into user behavior on social platforms and their media consumption behavior.

Re: Insight into FB/Social Media Users based on FB Relationship Status

I think user behavior on FB will depend on country by country, and obviously age as well. I doubt college students in LA behave the same as grandparents in Germany.

If you take a look at a 16 year old's homepage on FB, there are tons of applications, and they'll link their status update with Twitter, and update it several times per day.

Then take a look at how a 60 year old uses FB. You'll find it will be mainly for 'clean' (i.e. no spam) emails. They might have just one or 2 applications, and rarely update their status.
