Microsoft is going to launch BING!
Hello Guys
Microsoft is going to launch its Bing search engine. Quoted as the Decision Engine, Bing aims to compete with Google and divert its market share. As of now it focuses on 4 prime areas – Local information, Travel, Health care and E-commerce. Bing aims to provide users with faster and more relevant results for their search query unlike Google that returns a steady stream of links. Though it is not available to the public as of yet, it is all set to get launched formally on June 3rd. Just Wait N Watch! Last edited by jag : 06-01-2009 at 04:34 AM. Reason: link removal |

I just hope I don't start seeing more of that "chandler bing" jokes that I see here and there. I mean - really, REALLY dating ourselves, yes? Chandler Bing? Friggin' "Friends"?!

I did a little looking and had same results in bing as I do in live. But certainly not comprehensive. I like it. Not sure I'll switch from google though.

Re: Microsoft is going to launch BING!
I checked out my domain on Bing. First page on several keywords where my domain didn't show up before. Appears that Bing is emphasizing the combination of domain name, url, title, age of domain, keyword density. Does not have the refinement of Google since it does not have the statistics that Google has at its disposal. In this regards, he helps my domain because of the strong key/domain name relationship that it carries.
I think that MS is attempting to vertical-ize the search engine market. Not sure they will be successful, but it is probably their only viable approach. They cannot beat Google as a general search engine, so it looks like they are going to pick their spots and try to do better and pick off some revenue possibilities, without spending to much research dollars. It should be interesting to see if they are able to change user search behavior, in order to accommodate a more vertical approach (e.g. shopping, travel, etc.). Rich |
