Lost 1 point on google page rank

i have a relatively new site, but i had a PR of 2 just after a couple of months.
i used the seo browser on "whois domain tools" to fine tune my titles, keywords and descriptions. i also paginated my pages which lead to duplicates on each of those pages. It looks like shortly after these changes my PR went back to 1. I am not sure what i did or what could have cause me to loose that 1 point. Since then i have undone the pagination but kept all the other changes, in google webmaster tools it no longer shows when your site was crawled last so i am not sure if it will go back to 2 when its recrawled, but in the content analysis section of the webmaster tools says it was updated today.

any suggestions appreciated.

thank you

Re: Lost 1 point on google page rank

Absent any trickery or introduced problems, onsite changes normally don't directly affect PR. PR can flux a bit as PR is recalculated based on the index itself and as your inbound link values change.

This could lead to a change if internal link structure is affected adversely, i.e. if pages that used to link to the home page are gone or kicked out as duplicates.

Re: Lost 1 point on google page rank

Do a search for pagerank checker, there are a few out there. It is normal at times for PR to be different depending on what IP/datacenter is accessed at the time when checking it. You will sometimes see the 'old" and sometimes the "new" until the newest data is fully propagated.

Re: Lost 1 point on google page rank

How much have your rankings and traffic numbers declined due to the decrease in PageRank value?

I'm willing to bet, that the decrease didn't affect it at all.

Stop looking at the little green bar.
