Keyword targeting & differentiation between similar keywords
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around keyword targeting when two keywords are very similar.
Here's my dilemma, lets just I sell ACE brand Widgets I'm doing well with “ACE Widgets” queries but not “ACE” How do I fix this since “ACE” is already all throughout the results page & supposedly anchor text is playing a less and less significant role in link relevancy so just getting links with “ACE” as the anchor text wouldn't really help (I wouldn't think) Just a little confused. Thanks |

Re: Keyword targeting & differentiation between similar keywords
jpf566, what I suggest is that you start by doing some additional keyword research. Start thinking about the semantic keywords and not just words that include "ACE".
Take a look at Copyblogger's "How to Create Semantic Content using Semantic Keyword Research". http://www.copyblogger.com/semantic-keyword-research/ You'll want to create a list of core keywords, supporting stemming keywords, and stemming keywords. Then use those lists to create a rough outline of the content that you'll need on your site. In order to establish your site as an authority site, you'll want to not only have content about "ACE Widgets", but content that addresses other things that the searcher is looking for that's related. Perhaps having "ACE Widgets" solves their problem, and that's why they're buying them. But there may be other underlying reasons why they're looking for "Ace Widgets". That's where you can use additional semantic keyword research to find the content that you really need on your site.

Re: Keyword targeting & differentiation between similar keywords
you can also look at suggester.promediacorp.com it shows the Google suggestions and is handy to see what other combinations are used with your term
