How to promote an energy website

I have a web 2.0 site fully dedicated to energy having a blog, forum, bookmarks, connecting with friend etc...
Now i need some help in promoting the site, could you please list some ways to achieve it.

Link building is the main strategy to promote your website. Concentarte more on Quality one way links. Otherwise consult any service provider for better results.

Look on the KickApps website for some seminars about improving search results for communities - it's a huge problem for everyone running User Generated Content sites. (I don't work for KickApps, I just saw a Webinar a while ago where they discussed this).

We find AdWords and FaceBook ads drive quite a lot of traffic to our communities, but you'll need a budget (obviously). You'll soon see very clear conversion rates and work out if you can sustain paid links.

also by joining other communities you can find posters that are good but are not moderating or regular columnists at the sites... spend some time and contribute and then ask them if they would like to become involved with your community - as a forum moderator or a columnist... they come to your site and usually bring people with them

I have been running Apache server for a while now, however, i have only been running it as an online directory, a list of files, how do i make a website become hosted on apache? and at the same time have a link to the directory with the same root folder and htacsess password file?

Any imput would be greatly appreiciated

Creating content that is helpful and useful. Simply cobbling together information from another website will not generate traffic. You need to offer visitors the information they need to achieve a goal, solve a problem, be entertained, find out quality news or have a good laugh.
