Rocky road for Philadelphia Inquirer newsroom staff

Deborah Yao, AP Business Writer, reports that The Philadelphia Inquirer’s newsroom staff will shrink by nearly 20% in two weeks as the newspaper revamps itself into a local and regional publication “with a growing online presence anchored by a redesigned Web site.”

Of the Inquirer’s 400 newsroom employees, 68 are slated to be laid off. At the same time, the Inquirer unveiled its Phillycars.com Web site for car listings in the area, in part targeted at auto dealers.
